A hotel described as central may still require a road transfer for the things you want to do.

Then build another part of the visit around a neighborhood meal, Chinatown, a museum, or a market appropriate to your dates. Bangkok’s BTS SkyTrain and MRT provide useful rail connections, while boats serve parts of the river. Check the route and the ticket needed for the actual service you plan to use. Do not assume that a pass purchased for one system covers every train or boat. At a pier, confirm both the destination and the type of service before boarding. A sightseeing boat and a local service may not have the same stops or fare arrangements.

For a road transfer, save your hotel’s address in Thai as well as its English name, and confirm the pickup point. Allow room for traffic when a flight, train, or timed visit depends on your arrival. Bangkok has two major airports, Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang. Read the airport code on every booking. A connection that changes airports is a different undertaking from changing terminals.
